December 2014During the holiday season we often hear the words peace, love and joy. While these words do get to the root of the holiday spirit; finding peace, feeling loved and experiencing joy isn't always that easy. This is especially true for those that struggle to meet the basic needs of food, shelter and warmth.While spreading peace, love and joy through giving gifts continues to be a holiday ritual, according to abc news, over 41 billion dollars in gift cards have gone unused since 2005. Yet, in 2014, Seattle food banks served over 750,000 people. And, on any given night, right here in Seattle, there are about 8,000 people without shelter.This year, in our attempt to spread the holiday spirit to the community in which we live, Genesee Fuel & Heating is making a donation to the Salvation Army North West Division and Rainier Valley Food Bank.Happy Holidays to all our customers and our local community.
